The context

Reaching the final was already a feat. Winning it meant facing a ghost. PSG's QSI era had built its recent history around an absence: this trophy, always promised, never lifted. Before the final, Luis Enrique had asked his players to make history, to do what no one at the club had done before them.

Across from them, Simone Inzaghi's Inter were no easy opponent: an experienced finalist, solid, dangerous from set pieces, an Italian side that knows how to manage big nights. Many expected a closed, tense final, undecided to the end.

The turning point

The turning point does not wait. By opening the scoring in the 12th minute, then doubling it before the half-hour, Paris stripped Inter of the only weapon that could have troubled them: time. A tight final might have woken the Italian experience. An early 2-0 buried it.

Tactically, PSG applied everything that had defined their season: a Dembélé false nine dropping and distributing (two assists), full-backs bursting forward, a press that denied Inter any breath. It was not one player who won this final. It was an idea, carried by eleven men.

At twenty, Désiré Doué turned a final into a personal coronation. An assist on Hakimi's goal, then two goals on either side of half-time: the young winger was at the heart of almost everything Paris achieved in Munich.
